ResShield : Service Outage (Expired 6/27/2017 8:00pm)

6/27/2017 12:58pm Problem

The ResShield environment experienced another occurrence where users were no longer able to access the environment this morning. While we still do not have root cause, we have decided to revert back to the configuration prior to the maintenance work that was completed this past Sunday, June 25th.

We are taking an unplanned maintenance window this evening from 6-8PM to complete this work and will monitor closely for further issues.

The problem with ResShield has been resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. UFIT will fully investigate the issues that caused this outage.

A new phishing scam is circulating that includes a link to a fake login page. The email is a scam. Please delete/ignore this phishing message and share this alert with those who need to be made aware.

UFIT staff will perform maintenance for Datacenter Infrastructure beginning on Sunday, 6/25/2017 at 6:00 AM. UFIT staff and Preston Link Electric will be going through the floor PDUs in SSRB and metering each circuit, deinstalling the dead circuits in advance of the upcoming circuit migration.This work should not be service affecting. A new phishing scam is circulating that includes a malicious Microsoft Word document. The email is a scam. Please delete/ignore this phishing message and share this alert with those who need to be made aware.

Any users who respond to this phishing attack by opening the Word document and enabling macros should contact their local IT support staff to have their computer examined for a malware infection.

UFIT is continuing to investigate the Service Issue/Outage regarding myIT. A restart of the application server at 5:00 PM failed to resolve the issue. Users may continue to experience issues logging into the system.


UFIT is continuing to investigate the Service Issue/Outage regarding myIT and we anticipate a system restart at 5:00 PM which will restore service.


University community members accessing myIT may experience slowness or intermittent availability. UFIT is working to restore the service to normal as quickly as possible.

UFIT staff will perform maintenance for Network Services beginning on Sunday, 6/11/17 at 6:00 AM. The maintenance is expected to be completed by Sunday, 6/11/17 at 9:00 AM.

The following work will be performed Sunday, June 11, between 6:00am and 9:00am:

- A failing UPS will be replaced in the CTX core PoP. This work is not expected to be service affecting due to the redundant power configuration at the site.

- The production connections to FLR will be upgraded from 10G to 20G. There will be several brief outages to external WAN networks such as FLR, Internet and Internet2 as traffic moves between our primary and secondary connections.

- An additional 10 Gig network module will be installed in each of the CSE and MEB core routers. This work is not expected to be service affecting.
