UFIT staff will perform maintenance for Network Services beginning on Sunday, 5/21/17 at 6:00 AM. The maintenance is expected to be completed by Sunday, 5/21/17 at 9:00 AM.


The following buildings networks will receive software upgrades and configuration changes. Each building will see rolling outages of ten minutes to various parts of the building as individual switches are rebooted on the new software. Bartram/Carr Halls

Florida Gym

Norman Hall

Smathers Library


Several connections between the SSRB and Aero core locations will be migrated to a new fiber path between the sites. Core feeds to several buildings will be affected, but due to redundant feeds the work is not expected to be service affecting for those buildings. Campus Research Network resources in affected buildings will see outages of ten minutes while individual circuits are moved.

Software will be upgraded on the Fifield Core BPoP switch. This upgrade addresses a bug in the code currrently running on the device. Several IFAS Farm Area buildings will see ten minutes of downtime while this work is performed.

Several connections between the MEB and CSE core locations are being migrated to a new fiber cable. This work will not be service affecting due to the redundant nature of the network.


New switches will be installed on the third floor of Benton Hall and the third floor of Larsen Hall. This work will not be service affecting.


The Verizon UF private cellular VPN service will migrate to new end point routers within the UF network. Remote sites using this service will see 30 minutes of downtime as this work is performed.
